Donating a Dress

Donating a Dress

Sharing a gown or wedding accessories with Adorned in Grace is as easy as 1-2-3!

Step 1: What Can I Donate?

  • Wedding Dresses (no more than 5 years old), Formalwear, Mother-of-the-Bride Dresses, Flower Girl Dresses

  • Veils, Belts, Hair Accessories, Shoes, Jewelry, Bras, Petticoats

Should I have my dress cleaned?

YES PLEASE! Many dry cleaners are happy to give discounts on cleanings for dresses being donated, and dresses made of polyester can often be turned inside out and washed in a front load washer. If you’re at all considering donating your dress, task a friend or family member with getting it cleaned as soon as possible after your wedding- hem dirt comes out much better if cleaned immediately. If you’re not able to clean your dress, please consider including a monetary donation to cover various costs of preparing your dress for the shop.

Can I donate my vintage dress?

We do not currently have a market for vintage dresses in our shops.

Do you accept donations from bridal shops?

Absolutely! Contact info@adornedingrace.org for more information!

Step 2: How Do I Get My Donation To You?

In Person: If you live in Portland or Arizona, we’d love to meet you! Donations are accepted during business hours at all of our shops. Addresses and phone numbers can be found on the footer of this page.

By Mail:

  • Print out the donation form linked below.

  • Wrap the dress in a plastic bag, then roll the dress and pack dress, any accessories, and your donation form in a box for shipping. If your gown is in a preservation box, please remove it before shipping and pack it in a smaller box.

  • Ship to any of our locations. Addresses can be found on the footer of this page. Please do not request signature confirmation when shipping.

Step 3: Share Your Experience

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I receive a receipt for my donation?

Operating under a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, Adorned in Grace will issue you a receipt for your monetary or product donations.  The receipt for donated goods will not show the value of the goods; you (and your accountant) can determine that value using IRS guidelines. Please let our volunteer staff know the name and email address of the donor if you bring in a gown for someone else.  A downloadable form to attach to the product donation is included for your convenience.

Why does my receipt say $0?

If you are not including a monetary donation, your receipt will look like a $0 sales receipt. As the receiving organization, we aren't allowed to assess the tax deductible value of product donations. The "$0" on your receipt is in no way representative of how much we value your donation. Without our donors, we couldn't do what we do, and we are so thankful that you would share your treasured items with us!
